Conditional Free Shipping

We know that our website has to go up against the "big boys” in the online jewelry world.  That said, we know that none of the McJewelers offers the carefully curated collection of artisan jewelry that we do.  We’re hoping you can recognize the intrinsic difference between our business model and that of a big box store.

There’s no denying that free shipping is a powerful incentive to purchase online.  But we can also see that if our guests aren’t adequately equipped with information to help them decide if a piece is just right, we could get hammered paying for free shipping to Bangor, Maine and St. Augustine, Florida…and back again.

So, we try to include a lot of detailed information on each piece we offer on this site. Dimensions, weights, metal purities, cuts, widths, lengths, depths...and accurate photography. But it doesn't stop there.

Alara is a dedicatedly inventive brick-and-mortar gallery and design studio. So, we are ACTUALLY here to answer your questions, live and in-person 7 days a week, from 10am to 6pm Mountain Time. Webchat. Email. Phone. Text.

We're trying to give you very little reason to order something that will just disappoint--to save us all a little money, build a solid business, and stop so many packages from unnecessarily flying through the air! Before you pull the trigger, please ask that niggling question you have. And please note that during online discount events, our conditional free shipping is suspended, but you can select the shipping for which you will pay.

The free shipping we offer under this program:

  • USPS First Class with Tracking and Insurance for order values between $100 and $999.99
  • FedEx 2-Day with Tracking and Insurance for order values between $1,000 and $4,999.99
  • FedEx Priority Overnight with Tracking and Insurance in the case of orders over $5,000*

*Please note, in the case of orders over $5,000 being shipped to a residential address, will likely reach out to have the package held at a local FedEx “Hold for Pickup” facility due to the value of the package. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions for alternative options. 

If you take advantage of our free shipping and you would like to exchange any items for others, we will send you a prepaid air-bill.  In this case, your restocking fee will be equivalent to the shipping back to us, and you will be shipped your exchanged items with no shipping charge. Please see details on exchanges here. 

If you ask to return a piece for refund for any reason, we provide you with a pre-addressed, prepaid airbill. When the piece arrives at our gallery, and it meets all the other criteria specified under "returns & exchanges” we will charge a restocking fee equivalent to our shipping costs both ways.  You will be refunded for the returned piece minus that restocking fee. Please see details on returns here.

Our conditional free shipping program is only available within the United States, and does not apply during online discount events.
