Gelin Abaci was formed by two people with the same idea: Gabriel Gelin and Sam Abaci. Driven by an interest in modern design, and using their combined 50 years in the jewelry business, Gabriel Gelin and Sam Abaci founded the design house of Gelin Abaci. Gelin Abaci quickly became a leading manufacturer of tension-set jewelry in the United States, continually evolving their designs to keep up with the wants and lifestyle needs of the modern women. Gelin Abaci's stunning tension settings are designed to let a maximum amount of light into a center stone, highlighting the focal point of a ring. With bands made of 14K and 18K Gold, 18K Rose Gold, Palladium, and Platinum, often accented with diamond side stones, each Gelin Abaci ring flawlessly combines strength and beauty.
What is Tension Setting?
A tension setting is a unique process used for a ring, pendant, or earring that holds a gemstone in place by applying pressure. In-order to make a tension setting Gelin Abaci must work to harden the metal, employ special alloys, and pressure treat the metal to create the strength that is required for the spring loading process to occur. Each tension setting exerts from 65 to 95lbs of pressure per millimeter which equates to 12,000 pounds per square inch on a diamond or any other gem stone. Any gemstone with a hardness of 9 or above on the Mohs hardness scale can be tension set. A tension setting shows off the beauty of the center diamond, sapphire, ruby, etc. at its best!
